- Application fee
- $25 application, $25 reinstatement (Insurance Producer)
- State exam
- NIPR verifies exams before allowing submission. Exams are required for Insurance Producer (Life, Accident & Health, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, Crop) and for Bail Bonds Producer and Runner, and not required for Surplus Lines Broker, Managing General Agent, Portable Electronics or Resident Attorney.
- Fingerprints and background check
- Bail Bonds Producer and Bail Bonds Runner applicants must submit a fingerprint-based background check. The page states no such requirement for other licence classes and names no vendor.
- How to apply
- Apply electronically through NIPR's Resident License application.
- Also worth knowing
- Applicants must be at least eighteen, and twenty-one for the bail bonds classes. The page lists no distinct Public Adjuster class.

What score do I need to pass?
South Dakota does not publish a passing score for this examination, so treat the candidate handbook as the authority rather than any figure quoted elsewhere.
Does South Dakota require state-approved prelicensing education?
