Licensing guide

Not sure which license you need?

Insurance licensing is confusing because every state does it differently. Start with the three questions below and we'll point you at the right course.

Step 1

What do you want to sell?

Pick the category you're most interested in. You can add others later — holding multiple license types is common.

Property & Casualty

Homeowners, auto, commercial, workers' comp

The largest category. If you're selling home insurance, car insurance, or commercial coverage to businesses, this is you.

Examples: Auto, home, small-business, commercial auto, workers' comp
For: New producer selling most personal & commercial lines

Life & Health

Life, disability, Medicare, annuities

Products that pay on death, disability, or illness — and retirement/annuity products. Often held together as 'Life & Health.'

Examples: Term life, whole life, Medicare supplement, health plans
For: Financial advisors and life/health-focused producers

Adjuster

Texas: All Lines or Public Adjuster

Coming soon

Evaluate and settle insurance claims — either for insurers (All Lines) or for insureds (Public Adjuster). Separate license from producer.

Examples: Catastrophe adjustment, staff adjuster, public adjuster for insureds
For: Claims professionals, catastrophe responders, PAs
