- State exam
- Major lines (Life, Accident & Health, Property, Casualty, Personal, Variable) require an exam, and limited lines (Auto Rental, Credit, Crop, Travel, Funeral) do not. Public Insurance Adjuster, Surety Bail Bond and Title each have their own Ohio examination.
- Pre-licensing education
- Major lines applicants must complete pre-licensing education from an Ohio approved pre-license education provider, and surety bail bond applicants from an Ohio approved education provider. No hour count is printed on this page.
- Fingerprints and background check
- Applicants must complete BCI and FBI criminal background checks.

The published passing score is 70%.
Does Ohio require state-approved prelicensing education?
No. Ohio does not mandate prelicensing education for the Public Adjuster license - passing the exam is what qualifies you. Exam prep alone is sufficient.
