- State exam
- Insurance Producer exams are required for Life, Disability (Health), Property, Casualty, Limited Lines Credit, Pre-Paid Legal, Surety and Title. Surplus Lines Producer, Motor Club Agent and Viatical Settlement Broker require no exam.
- Fingerprints and background check
- One year after the initial licence is issued, the applicant is deferred for a fingerprint check by the Montana insurance department. No third-party vendor is named.
