Frequently asked questions

How many questions are on the Maine Life exam?

Maine administers the Life Producer, 75 scored questions, a 105-minute time limit, administered by Pearson VUE. The exam fee is $55.

What score do I need to pass?

Maine does not publish a passing score for this examination, so treat the candidate handbook as the authority rather than any figure quoted elsewhere.

Does Maine require state-approved prelicensing education?

No. Maine does not mandate prelicensing education for the Life license - passing the exam is what qualifies you. Exam prep alone is sufficient.

Is the practice exam built to the real Maine exam's format?

We build every course from Maine's own published material. A section-by-section exam blueprint for this specific license has not yet been transcribed into our registry, so the course uses its standard internal weighting rather than a state-verified one - check back as we complete the blueprint audit.
