Insurance Producer and Surplus Lines applicants must pass the Hawaii licensing exams. Exams are required for Life, Accident & Health or Sickness, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, Surety and Title, and for Independent Adjuster, Public Adjuster and Workers' Compensation Adjuster.
Fingerprints and background check
Fingerprinting has been required for resident licence applications since 1 November 2010, scheduled through the state's vendor FieldPrint.

Also worth knowing
No exam is required if a licence is reactivated within one year of inactivation. A General Excise Tax Licence is required. Public Adjusters must post a $10,000 surety bond.
