What Alabama requires

- Application fee
- $80 (amendment $80, reinstatement $80) (Insurance Producer)
- State exam
- Insurance Producer exams are required for Life, Accident & Health or Sickness, Variable Life and Variable Annuity, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines and Bail Bonds. Adjuster exams are required for Property and Casualty, with or without Workers' Compensation and Crop, and for Crop and Workers' Compensation on their own. Title Insurance Agent requires an exam. Apprentice Adjuster, Portable Electronics, Surplus Lines Broker and Temporary Producer do not.
- Fingerprints and background check
- A fingerprint check is required of every individual resident applicant for Insurance Producer with multiple lines, Adjuster and Title Insurance Agent, and the application must be submitted within thirty days of completing it.
- How to apply
- Apply electronically through NIPR to the Alabama Department of Insurance.
- Also worth knowing
- First-time applicants and certain military-affiliated applicants may be exempt from the fee. Reinstating 366 or more days after expiration means reapplying on the initial application.
